1954 Kiwanis Administration - 12 planned visits to other Kiwanis clubs were made and 7 vists by other Kiwanis clubs were enjoyed Among the important social events were dances, a community carnival, scout leader's appreciation dinner and a children's Christmas party Inducted 14 new members The president was in attended the Divisional Organization Conference and 1 delegate registered for the District convention. Boys and Girls Work - The club sponsored Boy Scout Troop 721, presented a scholastic award to a local high school senior and presented a trophy to the winner of the Little League Baseball Play off 100 children were entertained at a big league baseball game on National Kids' Day The entire Boy Scout troop was entertained at a dinner meeting. Public and Buiness Affairs - This committee assisted the volunteer fire department in holding their annual carnival We sponsored a joint traffic safety program with authorities at Fort George G Meade We are making plans to raise $52,000 the estimated cost to build a community hall. Underprivileged Child - 20 children received eye examinations and 18 pairs of glasses 11 pairs of shoes and 1 snowsuit were given to needy children 43 children were entertained at a Christmas party. Vocational Guidance - A Career day program was presented in the local high school with 16 separate vocations represented and discussed The committee arranged for a number of physically handicapped people to secure an interview with employers for prospective employment. 1955 Kiwanis Administration - A 100% attendance meeting was held and 12 new members were inducted 11 visits were made to other Kiwanis clubs, and 12 interclub visit by other Kiwanis clubs were enjoyed A weekly club bulletin was issued 2 members were in attendance at the Divisional Orgainzation Conference, 1 member attended the District Convention. Boys and Girls Work - Our entire club participated in planning and building the Odenton Community Center Building We continued sponsorship of Boy Scout Troop 721 We presented our annual scholastic award to outstanding senior of Arundel High School A free lunch program was carried on in Odenton School during October and part of November We orgainzed a safe driving course for young people. Public and Buisness Affairs - Our club was responsible for getting a trash and garbage disposal system for the community We assisted in the local campaign for building a hospital Arrangements were made for traffic signs to be placed near school We made a donation to the Health Cente.r Support of Churches - Members participated in monthly church meetings A special brotherhood program was sponsored with ministers of three faiths We arranged for a visiting minister from England to speak to our club. Underprivileged Child - 17 eye examinations were arranged for needy children and 9 glasses were puchased. A dance sponsored for the Handicapped Children Association raised over $300. Raised $400 at our Bingo Bazaar Free luches were supplied for elementary school children Donated $35 to Muscular Dystrophy Associates. Vocational Guidance - We arranged for students to visit plants in which Kiwanisa worked We arranged to have Board of U S Civil Service Examiners conduct clerical, stenographic and typing examinations at the high school. We arranged for a group of high school girls to attend Future Nurses Convention.
