Start up of the club was facilitated by active participation of Kiwanians from the two sponsoring clubs Petersburg and Hopewell, several of whom became charter members of the new club Charter night was held at the Regimental Club on Fort Lee, Virginia The Capital District Governor Jeffrey Wolff and Heart of Virginia District Trustee Betty Bell were in attendance Governor Wolff, assisted by Trustree Bell officially inducted and recognized the 17 charter members; during the meeting two (2) additional membership applications were received Gus Lamond, Lt Governor of Division 18 was Master of Ceremonies and installed the new officers and directors The first club president is Jeron (Ron) DuHart, an US Army Major stationed at Ft Lee
