The minstrel show netted $650 to be used for welfare work Furnished lunches and collected discarded clothing for indigent children Fostered the movement for a playground for younger children, organized a soft ball league for boys from 12 to 16 years of age, sponsored a skating party for the Girl Scouts and aided them by paying the expense of a truck used to collect old paper.

The club aided in the dedication of the new fire engine house and the new post office building, cooperated with the Woman's Club, in raising funds for a free county library and erected Ellicott City's first community Christmas tree.

Sponsored by the Pikesville club Received the plaque from North Baltimore and carried it to Towson Inter-clubs with Baltimore and attended the Charter Night of Halethorpe club.

Had seven 100% meetings in 9 months and in that time only lost one member.

The club gave a minstrel show to raise money for welfare work It set aside the sum of $100 to start an educational fund for boys and girls of the county, had one High school senior as a guest each week, carried 100 4-H girls to visit the Red Cross headquarters in Baltimore, continued to sponsor Girl Scouts, joined Rotary in fostering Boy Scouts, organized a softball league for boys, and bought a number of children's books for the library

Gave an award to a senior class high school boy whose work showed the greatest chance of success in business, erected a community Christmas tree and had programs on Cotton, the Chemical Industry, Business Ethics, Poetry, the Maryland State Guard, the Work of the Blind and Liquor Control

Visited Westminster, held a Ladies Night inter-club meeting on Charter Night, and had three joint meetings with Rotary

Entertained the LG and was represented at the International convention

The underprivileged child committee concentrated its efforts on a summer playground and a Christmas party This com-mittee worked with a general playground committee composed of representatives of various civic organizations of the community in working out the financing and a summer pIayground for six 16 years of age The club contributed $50 to this work $1750 dental work A Christmas party at the Health Center for 35 white and 35 colored children with a tree and a Santa Claus who gave useful-gifts consisting of underclothes, caps, mittens and such like to children $5000 was given to the Howard County Library for children's books

In cooperation with Rotary $60000 was raised for Boy Scout work ' ''and the Scouts were aided in collecting waste paper

Inter-club visits to Milfond, Dover and Baltimore

The club held two Kiwanis education meetings, entertained the District Governor and the LG and was represented at the International and the District conventions

The work of this club was much interrupted by war conditions

A raffle netted $150 for community work One boy was given 2 pigs as prize for best essay submitted One program was given on Post War Problems of Youth

The club aided the County Library financially in making its facilities more readily available through the county In conjunction with other civic organizations, postwar plans were made for a sewage system for Ellicott City Many times the club was forced to meet without programs; however, mention should be made of those on: Rationing, Citizenship, The War in the Pacific, and the United States at War

A Ladies' Night was held, and also a Charter Night Celebration

The club was represented at the District Convention and the Training School for Club officers, and on December 31 had six members in the armed forces

Established a clinic in the neo-natal section of the Howard County General Hospital. This program provides assistance for the newborn and also helps provide a program for nursing mothers.
